RebeccaEaganis a Florida native pastel artist specializing in commissioned portraits, animals, landscape, and child book illustration. She has won numerous awards including Best in Show at the PSNF’s Pastels ’98 National Exhibition; First Place, Florida Pastel Association National Exhibition; the Holbein Award; the Grumbacher Gold Medal; Best of Show at the 2012 Sandford ArtWalk “Animals” Exhibition; First Place at the A.E. An Art graduate from Florida State University, Ms Eagan also completed undergraduate studio work at Studio Grafico di Santa Reparata in Florence, Italy and art history studies in Holland and Austria with Eckerd College.

During the 1980s, she served as an art gallery director in Jackson, Wyoming, and then Scottsdale, Arizona. She also did freelance cartoon advertising in for local newspapers, and taught art.
Back in Florida, after a year as an EPCOT portraitist, Ms. Eagan taught children’s art and pursued full-scale commissioned portraits.

About 15 years ago, she became involved in Florida wildlife conservation, notably that of the state’s endemic gopher tortoise. This avocation led to frequent published opinion writings in various Florida newspapers.

In 2008 Rebecca illustrated the child book How Gimble Gopher Tortoise Found a New Home, about Florida’s rare upland animals.
Though escaping the city when possible to her tiny cabin in north Florida, she resides and works in Winter Park. She welcomes commissions of both people and animals.
